Ish and the Life-Changing Practice of Good Enough - Lynne Cazaly | 1904
Wednesday Aug 14, 2019

Lynne Cazaly is an international keynote speaker, author and master facilitator. Her recent book “Ish: The Problem with our Pursuit for Perfection and the Life-Changing Practice of Good Enough” is also the topic of her Agile2019 presentation. By “ish” Cazaly means something like “doing a good enough job to release and get feedback” – something that agilists might call “bias toward rapid feedback.”
Too often people practice perfectionism even when the result of putting more time and effort isn’t demonstrably better than without it. How to spot a perfectionist? Cazaly says to look for “anybody working late, repeatedly working through lunch, not taking a break, not taking care of themselves, or being hesitant to share or show their work.”
Lynne Cazaly’s words of wisdom: “A lot of our identity can be tied up in the role we have, or the title, or the experience, or the story of where we’ve worked. Don’t get too hung up on that. You are so much more than your current role. You’re so much more than that bad experience with that team where it didn’t work out.”

Stephanie Thomas is a disability and fashion styling expert, and Founder and CEO of Cur8able, a B2B business dedicated to dressing with disabilities. Stephanie was also the keynote speaker at the Women in Agile session at Agile2019 in Washington D.C.
For more than two decades Thomas has researched clothing and retail trends exclusively for people with disabilities, and as a congenital amputee herself missing digits on her right hand and feet, this is more than her profession, it’s her lived experience.
Thomas says people with disabilities are not seen as fashion customers, despite the $6 trillion combined buying power of these individuals, their family and friends: “We personify pets more than we do fashion disability customers. We design for pets, we have jackets for pets...” With her Disability Fashion Styling System©, she provides safe and stylish options so that people with diverse needs can dress to feel great and be seen.

TenWomenStrong: Leading Life on Purpose - Lyssa Adkins and Kat Conner | 1902
Monday Aug 05, 2019
Monday Aug 05, 2019
Lyssa Adkins and Kat Conner chat with the Women in Agile podcast to share their journey with TENWOMENSTRONG. Lyssa Adkins is a coach and facilitator, teacher and inspirer whose book “Coaching Agile Teams” has had a lasting impact on the Agile industry and community. Kat Conner is a Business Agility Innovator with Accenture | SolutionsIQ who brings deep leadership, change management and organizational agility knowledge to her clients.
After more than two decades of being acquaintances and then friends, the two only realized they shared the same desire to further the representation, leadership and empowerment of women in the Agile space. Says Conner, “When I think about agility, so many of the things that we hold dear, such as transparency, communication and collaboration, are really strong feminine qualities and energies.”
As for Adkins, she says, “There’s a bunch of masculine shells that I’ve put onto my femininity to fit myself into the world as it is.” Now the two are collaborating with TENWOMENSTRONG to help bring more feminine energy into the business world and life in general, especially in leadership. Why? As Adkins puts it, women have “the ability to go into the unknown and mystery for a long time to see what emerges.”
Kat’s WiA Wisdom:
“If you feel called, if this speaks to you in any way, talk to one of us or give us a call. We’re very open to sharing our experiences and how this may serve you in this moment of your life.”
Lyssa’s WiA Wisdom:
“All I really want is women being themselves and leading in their way because I think the world needs us to do that.”
